Many thanks to Mark, Craig and Lewis for coming along to carry out the works.
A 4.5 hour work day today consisted of tidying the floor of the old store room, but the main article was the substantial work on clearing out the ticket office building.
In attendance was the outstanding drone pilot 'Drone People', who took videos and photos of the station site during our works today.
All photo/video documentation taken today will be posted in the near future.
Ticket window largely scrapped
Unfortunately, the vast majority of the ticket window was so far gone, that it had to be put on the scrap heap. The ticket window, and boardings were removed, with the window hatch and mechanism stored away for reuse.
Ticket window to find a new purpose
The salvaged part of the ticket window will be restored and repurposed. The idea at the moment is to incorporate the ticket window flap into the new door for the old store room, which will serve as the kitchenettte for preparing orders for the tea room.
Essentially, customers will place their orders with the volunteer behind the ticket window.
Planned purpose for the old ticket office building
The current plan is to solely use the old ticket office (with the canopy) as a seating area for the tea room, with a single toilet cubicle to support the function.
The future of certain site aspects
The open-air men's toilets will be refurbished, along with the cubicle with the pull chain toilet. However, this is currently a low priority item.
The disused freight wagon, situated next to the ticket office, will be refurbished and used as a pop-up gift shop, with some heritage railway museum pieces.
